Employees to be Paid Pending Asbestos Investigation
Workers at a cement company will be paid after the plant’s closing through next week.
MesotheliomaCancerNews.com – Workers at the Ash Grove Cement Company will reportedly continue to be paid through next week, following the plant’s closing due to an asbestos contamination investigation. As reported by Billings Gazette News Services, employees were told that they would receive their pay while efforts were under way to determine whether a substance believed to be tremolite, found in the company’s quarry, is in fact the form of asbestos.
Workers were sent home last week due to the discovery. Jacqueline Clark, a spokesperson for the cement company is quoted in the report as stating, “Today we announced to the union that we’ve extended workers’ pay through March 27, because the sampling and testing are expected to continue next week.” Results from samples already taken from the area in question and submitted are said to be expected in a few days.
