Asbestos Found in Quarry Shown to be Trace Amounts
Asbestos found in Ash Grove Cement Company’s Montana City quarry reportedly does not exceed legal limits.
New information on asbestos testing at a Montana City quarry revealed that only trace amounts of the toxic mineral have been found. As reported by the Helena Independent Record, samples taken from the Ash Grove Cement Co.’s limestone quarry and tested were stated on Friday to have contained either trace amounts of asbestos or none at all.
Jacqueline Clark, a spokesperson, is quoted in the report as stating of the findings, “The concentrations detected do not exceed federal regulatory standards governing asbestos-containing materials.”
As noted in the report, officials in the state are planning to hold a meeting for the public regarding results of the testing to be able to answer questions from citizens.
Asbestos exposure can lead to mesothelioma and other serious health conditions.
