Federal lawyers in W.R. Grace asbestos trial in Missoula called final expert.

Grace & Company toxic asbestos exposure trial in U.S. District Court in Missoula called their final expert witness on Monday. As reported by the Missoulian, federal lawyers questioned expert witness and former assistant to the U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Richard Lemen in court.
Lemen informed the federal court jurors and presiding judge that the asbestos tainted vermiculite mined by workers, for decades at Grace’s former Libby, Montana, vermiculite mine posed “an imminent risk” to the public. W. R. Grace and five of its former executives are charged in the government’s lawsuit for knowingly exposing Libby residents to cancer causing asbestos. Direct and secondary exposure to asbestos materials can lead to asbestos related illnesses including terminal mesothelioma cancer.
