Asbestos Deaths Growing in US
Asbestos related deaths are said to be increasing in the United States.
MesotheliomaCancerNews.com – The number of asbestos cancer related deaths are said to be rising in the United States. As reported by Reuters, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta reported that deaths caused by mesothelioma, which is caused by exposure to asbestos, have climbed by an average of over 200 deaths per year. The agency is also said to anticipate that the number of related deaths could peak by the year 2010.
The CDC report is quoted by Reuters as stating, “Although asbestos has been eliminated in the manufacture of many products, it is still being imported and used in the US in various construction and transportation products… Ensuring a future decrease in mesothelioma mortality requires meticulous control of exposures to asbestos and other materials that might cause mesothelioma.”
