Asbestos Becomes Issue in Pennsylvania Area Schools
Accidents related to asbestos exposure are said to be a significant issue in Bucks County schools.
Mesothelioma Cancer News – Asbestos accidents have been said to have taken place several times in Bucks County area schools in Pennsylvania over the past few years. As reported by the Bucks County Courier Times, a local asbestos consultant has stated that accidents related to asbestos particles or fibers being disturbed and possibly released into the air prompting environmental concerns take place more frequently than believed.
As noted in the report, the majority of public schools in Bucks County contain asbestos containing materials such as insulation. Exposure to asbestos can lead to mesothelioma cancer and other serious conditions.
Donna Heron, a spokesperson for the regional Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is quoted in the report as stating “The bottom line is anytime you’re dealing with asbestos materials, where you are going to be disturbing them, you definitely have to work with a certified asbestos contractor.”
