Asbestos Abatement Contractor Arraigned
A Chili contractor has been charged with mishandling asbestos projects.
Mesothelioma Cancer News (Chili, New York) – A contractor in New York has been accused of mishandling asbestos abatement projects. As reported by the Democrat and Chronicle, Keith Gordon-Smith of Chili has been charged with 15 crimes in connection with the mishandling of the removal of asbestos at several locations.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Craig R. Gestring, who is handling the case, is quoted in the report as stating of the charges, “He had workers removing pipes, ceiling tiles, without any protection at all… Here the workers are covered with white dust, and it’s our allegation they spoke with Gordon-Smith and asked him if it was asbestos, and he said no.”
