Congressman Calls for Asbestos Cleanup
Senator Arlen Specter is requesting asbestos cleanup for a Pennsylvania town.
Mesothelioma Cancer News (Pennsylvania)– Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania is requesting asbestos cleanup for Ambler, Upper Dublin, and Whitpain. As reported by The Reporter Online, Specter has called for the cleanup at the BoRite site, recently sending a letter to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in regards to his constituents’ request for the project.
Specter is quoted in the report as stating in the letter, “It is my understanding that EPA is in the process of shipping dirt to the BoRit site… My constituents are understandably concerned that this dirt will be used to cap the site and have advised me that previous capping attempts have not been successful.”
Specter is further quoted by The Reporter as writing, “It is absolutely necessary that all citizens in the communities surrounding the BoRit site are assured that EPA implements a remediation that provides maximum and permanent protection of their health and environment.”
