An Abbotsford man is upset over the government’s handling of asbestos following demolition projects.

Mesothelioma Cancer News (Abbotsford, British Columbia) – An Abbotsford father is speaking out against the manner in which asbestos is handled by governments following demolition projects. As reported by AbbeyNews.com, Franklin Janzen has taken issue with sites contaminated with asbestos being left open for children to gather around following a series of demolitions in and around his neighborhood.

Janzen is quoted in the report as stating of his complaint to the city, “I want them to explain to me how this can happen.” Grant Acheson, the City of Abbotsford’s general manager for development services is noted in the report to state the city only inspects sites following a demolition, and hazardous materials disposal is within the jurisdiction of the province.
