Opera House Seating Closed Due to Asbestos
La Scala upper level seating has reportedly been closed pending asbestos removal.
Mesothelioma Cancer News – Upper level seating in the La Scala opera house in Milan has reportedly been closed due to asbestos. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), approximately 270 seats will be closed in the theater until work is completed to remove the contamination.
As noted by the AP, ticketholders will be offered an upgrade or refund as a result of the project, which is expected to be completed in October. Officials have reportedly stated there has been no spread of asbestos fibers in the theater.
A statement from La Scala reportedly noted that the removal process has already begun, and the nighttime schedule of workers will not be an interference for scheduled rehearsals and performances in the opera house.
