Asbestos risks on disused land
Several young individuals have been warned to stay away from disused property that contains asbestos.
Mesothelioma Cancer News (UK) – Some are concerned for the safety of young people who have been hanging around an area of disused land in Cumbria that contains asbestos. As reported by BBC News, officials have warned the youths not to return to the area due to the potential dangers with asbestos contamination as well as the instability of many of the area building structures.
Pc Paul Skivington is quoted in the report as stating of the issue, “These buildings are heavily surrounded by asbestos lining and roofing - they are dangerous… I am concerned that if youths enter the site they may be subjected to dangers that they are not aware of and their safety is very much at risk.”
