Asbestos removal company closes, liquidated
U.K. (Mesothelioma Cancer News) – An East Dunbartonshire asbestos abatement firm is being liquidated after financial issues forced it to close down. As reported by BBC News, the company, Whiteinch Asbestos Ltd., closed after more than two decades in operation.
PKF corporate recovery partner Bryan Jackson is quoted in the report as stating of the closing, “The directors felt that they could not compete with contractors who, they believe, are operating at a loss simply to gain work so they decided to close the business.”
Jackson is further quoted as stating, “Unfortunately I do not believe that Whiteinch Asbestos will be alone in closing their doors over the next few months… The impact of the recession is still being widely felt across all parts of the construction industry and any expected upturn in the market may come too late for many operators.”
