Teen injured after fall through asbestos roof

U.K. (Mesothelioma Cancer News) – A teenage boy was injured Saturday after falling several feet through an asbestos roof. As reported by BBC News, the 15 year-old was taken by ambulance to the hospital after the 15 ft fall.
A spokeswoman for the West Midlands Ambulance Service is quoted in the report as stating of the incident, “Due to the roof containing asbestos, fire fighters and paramedics wearing breathing apparatus entered the building to assess the teenager’s condition… The teenage boy had suffered chest and arm injuries.”
The spokesperson is further quoted as stating, “Paramedics decontaminated the teenager at the scene to remove asbestos dust from his clothing and skin.”
As noted by BBC News, asbestos use has been banned in the U.K. due to its link to serious health conditions.
