NIOSH makes asbestos document available for public review

(Mesothelioma Cancer News) – The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health’s (NIOSH) has reportedly made its recently revised asbestos document available for public review. As reported by EHS Today, the draft of the Current Intelligence Bulletin, “Asbestos Fibers and Other Elongate Mineral Particles: State of the Science and Roadmap for Research” has been made available at http://www.iom.edu/Reports/2009/NIOSH-Research-Roadmap-Asbestos.aspx, and can be viewed and commented on until April 16, 2010.
NIOSH Director John Howard, M.D. is quoted in the report as stating of the document, “The draft NIOSH roadmap reflects the Institute’s commitment to engaging complex scientific questions that have profound implications for occupational health, and bringing our best scientific tools to bear. It also reflects our commitment to making our efforts publicly transparent, and closely involving our stakeholders… Transparency and partnership are vital for progress on these issues that continue to demand our attention in the 21st Century.”
