Edinburgh, Australia (Mesothelioma Cancer News) – Contractors working on the redevelopment of an RAAF base in Edinburgh have reportedly raised concerns about exposure to asbestos and other toxins while at the site. As reported by The Advertiser, union officials are expected to hold a meeting regarding the concerns expressed by hundreds of workers on the matter.

Communications, Electrical and Plumbing Union organiser Jason Wilder is quoted in the report as stating of the concerns about clean up procedures and safety concerns of contractors, “The workforce is not confident in those procedures… There seems to be quite a significant amount of asbestos in that area built up over the years.”

As noted in the report, redevelopment of the base will purportedly include the construction of a hospital, an air traffic control tower, laboratories, and other entities.
