Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States according to the American Cancer Society. Both men and women are equally at risk for developing the disease. Over a lifetime, men have a 1 in 13 chance of being diagnosed with lung cancer and women have a 1 in 16 chance of a diagnosis. Lung cancer is most prevalent in adults over the age of 45 and is found at higher rates in smokers.
