Bladder Cancer Rates in Painters Above Normal

07/20/2010 // Norwalk, CT, USA // Get Cancer Answers // Cancer Answers
Painters are 30% more likely to develop bladder cancer than the general population reports the International Agency for Research on Cancer. Other professionals with an increased risk of bladder cancer included plasterers, glaziers, wallpaper hangers, artists and decorators as painters. The amount of time one has spent in that professional also affects the likeliness for the disease. One reason for the link may be that painters are exposed to some of the same chemicals found in cigarette smoke.
