Skin Cancer Signs and Diagnostics

Skin cancer affects nearly one million people a year and is the most common form of cancer. Signs of skin cancer include changes in the skins color or the appearance of new growths. A biopsy is the only form of skin cancer diagnosis available today. Currently scientific break throughs to improve methods of skin cancer diagnosis are being funded by the National Institute for Biomedical Imaging in a five year project. Non-invasive laser scanning tools are among one of the options being explored.
