How to Protect Yourself from Skin Cancer
07/27/2010 // Morehead, KY, USA // Get Cancer Answers // Cancer Answers
Skin cancer is mainly caused by prolonged and unprotected exposure to the sun’s rays. To stay safe while outdoors be sure to apply a broad spectrum sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher at least 30 minutes prior to going outside and reapply every 2 hours. Wear a hat and sunglasses to block harmful UVA and UVB rays from your eyes. Skin cancer can also be caused by indoor tanning beds. It is recommended that use of tanning beds is minimized or eliminated all together for maximum safety.
