Regular Mammograms Aid in Early Detection of Breast Cancer

09/01/2010 // Cleveland, OH, USA // Get Cancer Answers // Cancer Answers
Research shows the risk of breast cancer increases with a family history of the disease. Other factors that increase risk include having your first period before age 12 or starting menopause after turning 55. Smoking, drinking and obesity after menopause increase ones risk of developing breast cancer. Be aware of your own risk factors and know that mammograms are the best defensive diagnostic tool against breast cancer. One mammogram per year is recommended for women over age 40.
