New analysis has found that rectal cancer rates are increasing in both men and women under the age of 40 over the past several decades. Although rectal cancer is still considered to be rare among young individuals in the United States, being unconcerned about the disease may lead to missed or delayed diagnoses in young people. A study from the American Cancer Society indicates that greater efforts are needed to diagnose rectal cancer in those who show potential signs of the disease.
