There are many causes for stomach cancer, also known as Gastric cancer. The most common cause of stomach cancer is an infection called Helicobacter pylori. Seventy-five percent of people infected with the H Pylori bacteria will develop stomach cancer. Other causes may be diets high in salted and pickled foods, as well as the use of tobacco products. Once present in the stomach, cancer can spread to can spread to other internal organs such as the lymph nodes and the lungs.
